Datong, Shanxi Province—capital of the Northern Wei Dynasty and one of China’s first National Famous Historical and Cultural Cities—stands as one of the nine ancient capitals of China. In recent years, Datong has emerged as one of the most dynamic cultural and tourism cities in China, attracting visitors from across the country and around the world. As a benchmark for international cultural and tourism integration innovation in response to the "Belt and Road" Initiative, Tuoba City has been meticulously crafted over three years. Based on the ancient city of Datong, it deeply extracts the essence of Northern Wei Xianbei culture to construct a full-scene immersive cultural and tourism complex with a complete "History + Competition + Commerce" scenario. It aims to build a new cultural landmark and a new consumption destination where the ancient and the modern intersect.
This 5,000-square-meter outdoor themed market draws inspiration from the cultural integration and commercial exchange of the Northern Wei Dynasty, authentically recreating the “Great Unity Marketplace” and its millennia-old prosperity. More than just a marketplace, it serves as an open-air historical museum that instantly transports visitors back in time.
Plans include 52 permanent national cultural and tourism product pavilions alongside 36 temporary specialty shops, creating a bustling marketplace teeming with merchants. Four Tuoba-themed performance stages and seven ethnic cultural totems will be featured. Daily rituals—the morning city opening, evening lantern lighting, and closing blessings—will foster an immersive atmosphere throughout the day. These attractions will be free for visitors, ensuring sustained high popularity.
We invite nearly 80 foreign commodity dealers from 36 countries to move in free of charge and with move-in-ready setups. These foreign merchants will maintain independent operation. The entire area will be open all day and is free of charge for visitors.
Located within the indoor immersive experience zone, this 3,000-square-metre global culinary theme area is known as the ‘Feast of all nations at Tuoba City’. Gathering flavours from across the globe, it stands as an indispensable stop on visitors' journeys for a true feast for the palate.
Carefully curated 46 distinctive dining outlets can simultaneously accommodate 600 visitors. We not only provide unified public dining area services but also ensure your establishment is situated at the heart of the 12,000m² immersive experience zone, positioned along the essential visitor flow routes.
The 3,000 square meter "Tuoba Western Regions Dining Experience Zone," named "Feast of all nations at Tuoba City", offers 46 world multi-ethnic restaurants with free, move-in-ready setups, capable of accommodating 600 visitors simultaneously.
Throughout China's history, the Xianbei people represent an indispensable milestone. Their influence on historical developments, particularly during the Northern Dynasties and the Sui-Tang era, was profound. Numerous ethnic minority regimes established during the Northern Dynasties period—including the Northern Wei, Former Yan, Later Yan, Western Qin, Southern Liang, and Northern Zhou—along with the subsequent Sui and Tang empires, all bore substantial or considerable ties to the Xianbei people.
